About GESP

GESP is an abbreviation of "Gemeenschappelijk Eindhovens Studenten Platform", which translates as "Collective Eindhoven Students Platform. 'Gesp' is also the Dutch word for 'buckle'. It symbolizes that we want to bring things together and make a strong connection.

Gesp is in the middle of being founded. It is an organisation which is going to insure the interests of the students of Eindhoven. At is time there is no other organisation in Eindhoven that stands for the interests of all students in Eindhoven. GESP will detect the needs and make an effort to for fill those needs.

GESP is an independent platform that unites the local and national student organisations, educational institutions, student councils and the Council of Eindhoven. This is not an attempt to overrule or take over existing organisations. On the contrary, it is in our interest to let everyone do what they do best and try to build a network in which everyone knows where the expertise on a subject is.

It would be good to have more communication between students en their organisations. By thinking and sticking together the students of Eindhoven can make their opinions heard — about housing, for example. Also, local government and national student organisations like LSVb and ISO feel the need for one central contact representing the students of Eindhoven.

GESP is still under construction and working hard to get started officially. Help is appreciated and needed to complete GESP. We are looking for students who want to help found GESP, or perhaps be on the board. The workgroups will also be filled with students and other people involved with student life.
